The map shows the classification of the various rural areas of the Basque Country
Information tools have been developed at the infra-municipal level, and indicators of rurality have been created in order to better classify the reality of each territory. Within the Basque Country at the territorial level, under "municipality" there is a censual/statistical unit called "population entity", confirmed by the framework of EUSTAT's statistical population units.
After analyzing the various variables and consulting experts, the LEADER programme has divided the Population Entities of the Basque Country into groups according to the level and type of rurality. Aid from LEADER is to be applied to the first 7 degrees of rurality.
